You see, when it comes to fatigue, there are two types:
- Physical Fatigue
- Attentional/mental fatigue
Physical fatigue
This is the type of fatigue where you are physically tired from doing lots of physical work. For example, you have spent the day out in the garden, or your work is more manual in nature and you are tired.
Attentional/mental fatigue
This is the type of fatigue of fatigue where you are mentally tired, maybe from staring at your computer all day at work, or have been in stressful meetings all day.
Which one responds well to exercise or movement?
If you are mentally tired, then going for a short walk or doing some gentle exercise is a great way to 'relax'. It helps get the blood pumping and moves your muscles and joints. You will often feel much better after doing this.
If you are physically tired, a good result may be in order.
So, next time you are tired, have a think about what sore of fatigue you have and then decide whether some gentle exercise will be in order.
I know that if you do this, your body will thank you for it.
