In a previous post I talked about how it's important to listen to your body, so you don't have to hear it scream, and sometimes, if your back is a little niggly, it's really important to be careful when doing things like gift wrapping ... and that's why I made this post.
Here are 3 tips to help save you from a cranky back when wrapping presents this Christmas.
1. Split up the wrapping over a few days
Make sure you don't wait to the last minute and do one marathon gift wrapping session on Christmas eve. Split the wrapping up over the course of a few days to avoid too much stress on your system.
2. Use an alternative
There are lots of gift wrapping alternatives out there that can help ease the gift wrapping burden. Two of my favourites are, gift boxes and gift bags. These can still look great but don't require a whole lot of time.
Also, make use of gift wrapping services at shops and malls. Even if it costs a few bucks, it may be money well spent if it saves you from a cranky back. (This is also a good option if you just hate gift wrapping).
3. Don't wrap presents on the floor
It's often the easy choice to wrap on the floor, but it does put you in a compromised position, especially if you have to bend over and round your back for a long period of time. A good alternative is to lift it up and wrap on the dining table, kitchen bench, or even an ironing board. These are much better for your posture.
I hope you find these tips useful and if you have any other tips, share them in the comments.
