Your First VisitAt Elevate Chiropractic we help people of all ages from newborns to the elderly. Depending on the age, the first visit will differ slightly but the main goal is always the same - To see if you are in the right place and find out what we can do to help you. On your first visit, here is what you can expect to experience: |
Postural assessment. Posture can often give a good indication as to why you may be feeling a certain way. With all of the bad habits we pick up over the years and our sedentary type lifestyles, posture is often
Nervous system assessment. The nervous system controls all aspects of your body. If there is a breakdown in communication it can often affect function and lead to numerous problems. We need to assess the nervous system to see where these breakdowns may be.
Chiropractic spinal assessment. Structural problems often lead to functional problems. We will assess the structure and function of the spine and see if there are any problems present.
X-ray referral if needed. If after the history and examination x-rays are required, we will refer you to get them taken. We can refer you directly, no GP referral is needed.
Once we have all the information we need, we will need to go through and correlate the information and findings and figure out the cause of the problem and the required care plan to correct it. In certain situations and in the professional judgment of Dr Buscomb you may receive care on the same visit. Otherwise on your second visit we will explain the results and findings of the initial visit and your chiropractic care can begin.
Second Visit
After all the info from the health history is correlated with the examination findings, we will make recommendations designed to help get you back to your best. This visit is called the Report of Findings. We will explain what the problem is and what it will take to restore optimal function. This is not a 'one size fits all' plan and varies from person to person based on best clinical judgment. |
Regular Visits
Because of the amount of information we need to get from and then explain to you, the first two visits are the longest. Regular visits are shorter and usually take 10 minutes. Just because it is shorter, doesn't mean it’s not important. We can check the spine, make the necessary adjustments and get you on your way again. Each visit builds on the previous one, so keeping to your individual plan is important. Missing appointments can cause a loss of momentum and slow the results. If you cannot make an appointment, please call us and reschedule it. |
